This Mourning
As I pray for God's will in and for my life I read from The Imitation of Christ, these words...
"Lord if it pleases you, let this come to pass. Lord if this will honor you, let it be done in your name. Lord, if you see that it is good for me and approve it as useful then allow me to use it for your honor. But if you know that it will harm me and not be beneficial for the health of my soul, take the desire away from me."
"Lord, you know what is best. Let this or that be, as your will. Give what you will, as much as you will, when you will. Do with me what you know is best and what pleases you most and brings you the most honor. Place me where you will and freely work your will with me in all things. I am in your hand, so guide me in my journey. I am your servant. Ready for anything, because I want to live not for myself but for you. Oh that I might live worthily and perfectly!"
.
Words such as these were prayed by Michael and myself during his cancer journey. We knew that we would likely not want the answer given. But we also knew that God knows and has a greater plan for our lives. One beyond imagination. There is no better way than to release all of our desires over to God because in the end it will be worth it all.
