IT’s been a whirlwind year. My husband just finished 13 chemo treatments over the last 6 months. He did amazingly well but it has taken a big toll on him. He has lost a lot of weight and is ill most of the time. Nights are just painful tossing and turning for both of us. This following scripture is true for us though we would love for him to start feeling better. Radiation treatments start today. Keep us in your prayers.
We now understand more fully the tough road people face when being treated for cancer.
Below are some Soft Hugs for you.
Be Blessed,
Mandy
S - SCRIPTURES
Psalm 30 Weeping may last through the night but joy comes in the morning.
My dear friend, Bettie Gilbert always has a wonderful word of encouragement for me. She has guest-posted for me several times on my blog. Check out this: devotion, Finding Joy in the Pain.
O - OASIS
One place of oasis for me is playing the piano. Unfortunately, I live in a small apartment with my husband and two adult sons. Mainly, there is only sports blaring in the same room my piano sits. I also love to hear the birds singing. So here is a beautiful oasis I can play in my bedroom or even just in my ear.
F - Family and Friends
I wrote Soft Hugs For Mommy to help families explain fibromyalgia to their little ones. And it is helping people even those with other illnesses. A friend said that she used the book to talk with her grandchildren about giving soft hugs after her open heart surgery. So I am asking other friends to help me help more people. I want to share a freebie on ways to help our little ones find their new normal with Mommy being sick. Would you be willing to take a survey? Thanks.
T - Travel
I loved this travel log by Candace Rose Rardon at Dandelions Seeds. She visited Holland this summer, one of those places I have always wanted to see.
H - Holland
So why not visit The Netherlands vicariously? I have always enjoyed Rick Steves’ travel log of Europe. He shows all the great places with lots of interesting information.
U - UPDATES
Soft Hugs hardcover - In the midst of checking out e-proofs! So ready for the hardback to be available to retail stores and libraries!
Holly the Holstein’s Farm Friends - This has been a long time coming, but I just turned in revisions for the first half of the illustrations. It’s going to be another sweet book for your littles.
I’m signed up to have a book booth at the Corner Market Fall Festival. We’ll be giving kids tatoos of cows and butterflies. I hope my stamina will hold out!
G - GOOD READS
I just finished a series of prayer books, 31 Days of Praying God’s Wisdom For … 1. Yourself 2. Your Husband 3. Your Children. I found them very helpful and will probably keep using them over and over every month. Having wisdom is probably more important than any other trait. Read click about to purchase or click the button below to read my review.
S - SONG - Feast of Your Faithfulness by Bethany Barnard
Someone shared this on the Diamonds Forum. If you are following there, I think you will find it helpful and a great place to find friends.
With love and soft hugs;
Mandy
Praying over you and your husband. I know he is dealing with so much but you are too. You are trying to take care of him and everything else. May God provide the stamina (physical and mental) for you both.
Hi Mandy,
I am so sorry you and your husband are going through these trials. Certainly suffering gives us empathy for the pathway others have had to tread as well, but it is still hard - very hard. Prayers for you both as you navigate this difficult landscape in your lives right now, that you may have the strength and fortitude to perservere.
